Reimagining Systems

writing a new story…

discovering a new power…

treading a new path…

Gallos

Gallos (Cornish, meaning ability) is a 6-month learning journey that will help you to find a new and confident path into creating the change you want to see in public services.

It’s a programme for a group of 12-16 like-minded people working in any area of public services.

Gallos was created and is facilitated by Dulcie McBride and Jen Parkin

We, like you, feel frustrated with the lack of meaningful change we’re able to create for, and with, the people we serve. We are all well intentioned, skilled, creative and passionate people trying to improve lives in the best way we can.

We easily agree with how services should be and the issues that are causing problems. And yet, we can’t seem to find a way through into the future we all dream of.

We believe that we should take some time to pause and reflect on why we feel so stuck. What are the underlying stories that hold our current reality together and what is our relationship with the system we want to change?

We also believe that we are fully part of the system, the norms and patterns show up in each of us, every single day. If some of us can start to carve new paths forward, then what kind of impact can we have? How can we start to seed and nurture some different stories and in turn see a different system unfold.

Lastly, we believe that if we do this together, in support of each other, we can discover a new collective power to act.

This is for you if…

  • you feel frustrated with the systems you work within

  • you often find yourself working around the system, working at the edges of what the rules allow

  • you don’t get the time you need to think deeply

  • you are willing to see things about the system that you will never unsee

The high dream that we are holding for all of us is:

  • We start a movement of like-minded people whose influence and energy can’t be ignored

  • We all start to witness multiple ripple effects in the system

  • The patterns that are holding the system back start to unravel

  • We learn more about what it takes for us and others to change our mental models

If you throw yourself in, you will:

  • Feel confident in how to effect change within your own context

  • Be able to model different behaviours in service of the change you want to see

  • Continue to support each other to create change after the programme as ended

  • Find a new sense of motivation and agency for building a better future

At a minimum you will:

  • Learn about yourself

  • Understand how you show up in the system and how you want to show up

  • Gain a deeper understanding of why things are the way they are

  • Experience and learn how to use a range of tools and methods

  • Create supportive relationships with others on the programme

  • Feel like a door has been opened into a new way of being in the system

  • Gallos is a 6-month long learning journey with a mix of online and in-person sessions

  • The programme is for a group of 12-16 people who could be part of the same team or organisation, they might be a people from different sectors who work on the same issue and/or in the same place.

  • The total time commitment over the 6 months is around 40 hours

  • The expectation is that all the participants commit to the whole programme
